The bear it’s one of the best series right now, and that second season completely blew my mind. That show is a masterclass in storytelling and character development. I love that program, and it was recently reported that its creator, Christopher Storerhas signed on to direct a feature film for Paramount Pictures.
That movie is a 2006 adaptation Don Winslow novel Frankie Machine Winter. This is an adaptation that Martin Scorsese, Michael MannAND William Friedkin, they have all attempted to do in the past. Store will actually use the script written by Brian Koppelmann AND David Levien For Martin Scorsese AND Robert DeNiro.
The story is about Frankie Machiani, “a San Diego mob family hitman who is dragged out of retirement when the boss of a Los Angeles crime family asks him to oversee a meeting between the Detroit and Los Angeles crime families. He quickly realizes it’s all set to kill him. He has to shake off the rust and dodge those assassins until he finds out who is trying to kill him.
The report states that “Winslow and Salerno have received numerous approaches from leading directors over the past decade, but have never found the right fit and rejected all overtures until Storer arrives.” They were big fans of that first season of The Bear, and they loved Storer’s fondness for the novel, and he was obviously a fan of the original script.
The Scorsese project never came to fruition because he and De Niro ended up more interested in adapting the novel I heard you painting housesand they did The Irish Instead. The novel was initially given to De Niro for research to star Frankie Machine, which probably wasn’t the best idea, since he killed the project and launched another one.
I can’t wait to see what Storer ends up doing with the project!
