The news that Marvel Studios will not be at San Diego Comic-Con 2023 left fans around the world shaking with concern. However, it is not the only company that has decided to skip this important event, as of now It has been confirmed that Netflix, Sony and HBO will not feature movies or series either at the conference.

If you were planning to participate in the San Diego Comic-Con 2023 or you were just excited to watch live broadcasts, you have to keep in mind that this year is going to be extraordinary. Marvel Studios’ absence was alarming, but now there’s a chance other major companies will like it Netflix, HBO and Sony Pictures also refrain from presenting their expected projects.

A recent report by Variety revealed that This decision stems from the strike that Hollywood screenwriters and showrunners are carrying out, who demand fair pay for their work. This strike has not only affected the production of numerous films and series, but also threatens to reach San Diego Comic-Con.

The convention runs July 19-23, and if the strike isn’t resolved by then due to lack of deals, these companies are expected to maintain their support for the writers. This means that we will not hear from such long-awaited projects as ‘Loki 2’, ‘Ahsoka’, ‘Haunted Mansion’, ‘House of the Dragon 2’ or ‘One Piece’.

It is also worrying for big movie bets like “The Marvels” or “Kraven the Hunter”, since then nor will they have a panel in which to share new materials, trailers or anecdotes with fans. All of this will be forgotten, at least during this year.

Some studios reserved RSVPs

Until now, other studios such as Warner Bros. or Amazon Studios have not yet taken a definitive position about it and could attend San Diego Comic-Con. If that happens, we could still get exciting details about productions like ‘Blue Beetle’, ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’, ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem’, ‘The Wheel of Time’ or ‘The Boys: Gen V’.

Despite the uncertainty generated by the absence of these companies, San Diego Comic-Con 2023 continues to be an important event for lovers of cinema and pop culture. Even if we won’t be able to enjoy the expected panels and announcements, other companies could fill the gap and surprise us with exciting news.

We hope that the strike situation will be resolved soon and that in the next editions of the convention we will be able to see all these companies presenting their projects and sharing the emotion with the fans. Meanwhile, fans of Netflix, Sony, HBO and other big brands will have to wait a little longer to find out what the future of entertainment holds.
