As you know, James Gunn met many actors for his next film Superman: Legacy movie. While none of the cast members have been officially announced, there will be plenty of good actors who don’t end up being cast in the film.
A fan reached out to Gunn on Twitter and asked if he would consider casting any of the actors who didn’t make it. Superman: Legacy in other projects DC Studios and Gunn have responded simply with “Absolutely”. So, some of these actors may still have a future within Gunn’s DC Cinematic Universe.
Gunn commented on the ongoing casting process for Superman: Legacy, saying, “Amazing amazing audition weekend for Superman: Legacy. I’m in awe of some of these actors, some of the best I’ve ever seen or worked with.”
Gunn recently said of the audition process, “Now that we’ve done a lot of auditions, we’re narrowing it down. We’re not done yet. By the way, there are a lot of stories out there about who we’re auditioning and all these auditions. I’m just saying it’s not all true, that’s for sure. There are things in there that are completely false, but I can’t go out there and say, ‘Oh, this isn’t true, and this isn’t true’ without going through it all.
We have heard it David Corenswet (Pearl, Hollywood AND The politician) is the first choice for Superman followed by Jacob Elordi (The Kissing Booth), Andrew Richardson (Daughter of the bride), AND Pierson Fode (The brave and the beautiful).
Some of the other items include Rachel Brosnahan (The wonderful Mrs. Maisel), Samara texture (Ready or Not), Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton), AND Emma Mackey (Sex education) for the role of Lois Lane. Nicholas Hoult (Renfeld) is also in the running, perhaps as Lex Luthor.
We’ll just have to wait and see who ends up being cast in the lead roles in the film! The film will introduce a new version of Superman and tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, driven by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.
Superman: Legacy will launch the film portion of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. The film will be released on July 11, 2025.
