The flash conceptual artist Joe Quinones recently shared some character design work he did on the film for Batman. These offer alternative designs for Michael Keatonof Batman, and the artist explained that these designs were inspired by Kenner’s classic action figures for Tim Burton’S Batman AND Batman returns. The artist shared in a note:
The flash is out today! I just got the green light to share my design work on the film – this shoot was inspired by Kenner’s action figure line based on ’89 and Batman Returns. Here are the drawings I made that are closest to what appears on the screen #batman89 #TheFlash #TheFlashMovie
You can definitely see the inspiration of those classic action figures in these designs. None of them ended up being used in the film, but it’s still nice to see that the creative team was at least open to considering some wild Batman projects. In the end, they kept things simple.
