Hugh Grant confirmed to be playing an Oompa Loompa in WONKA

Warner Bros. has unveiled a new trailer for the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory prequel movie, Wonka, during his big presentation at CinemaCon recently and at the end of the trailer, there was a big hilarious reveal. Hugh Grant plays an Oompa Loompa in the Movie! Seriously, an Oompa Loompa, and the character design is similar to Oompa Loompa from Gen WilderThe classic 1971 film, only smaller.

When we first see Grant’s character, he’s tapped under a mason jar and is only a foot and a half tall. He is conversing with Timothee Chalametit’s Willy Wonka and she tells him it’s “a perfectly respectable size”.

When young Willy says he’s never heard of an Oompa-Loompa before, Grant’s character offers to introduce himself via a “ruinously catchy” song that no one who hears him will ever get out of his head. He even does a little Oompa Loompa dance!

Grant’s casting was originally rumored to be in 2022, but this obviously backs it up, and it’s so weird to see him as this little orange person with green hair. But audiences will probably love it! The image above isn’t from the movie, it’s a fan-made image, but it’s pretty close!

The rest of the footage is funny and bizarre, but Chalamet doesn’t really have Wonka’s wackiness. I think he’s a talented young actor, but I’m still not convinced of him as Willy Wonka. Regardless, the movie seems to have heart, so it could still be a good movie. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Meanwhile, Hugh Grant is an Oompa Loompa! So, you can ruminate on this for a while while we wait for a trailer to be released.

The new film is based on the classic characters created by Roald Daland the story will focus on a young Willy Wonka and his adventures before opening the most famous chocolate factory in the world.

Neil Hannon of the band The Divine Comedy is writing original songs for the prequel, e Paul King he’s directing from a script he wrote with Paddington 2 co-author Simone Farnaby. The film is also the protagonist Matthew Bayton (Ghosts), Olivia Colmann (The Favourite), Tom Davis (Paddington 2), Simone Farnaby (THE Paddington movie), Sally Hawkins (The shape of water), Rich Fulcher (Marriage history), Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (Paddington 2), Paterson Joseph (Zeros + Crosses), Emmy and Peabody Award winner Keegan-Michael Key (Schmigadoon!), Cala Lane (The day will come), Matthew Luke (Paddington), Colin O’Brien (The mothership), Natasha Rothwell (The White Lotus), Rakhee Thakrar (Sex education), Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean), Jim Carter (Downton Abbey), AND Eli White (The other one).
