Behind-the-scenes featurette for PETER PAN & WENDY offers insights and new footage

Disney has released a new behind-the-scenes featurette for the director David Lowery’S Peter Pan and Wendy, and offers great insight into the film and what this creative team brings to this new adaptation. It also features a good amount of great cutscenes!

With The Green Knight director David Loweryis involved in the film, I’m pretty confident this will be a wonderful new adaptation of the classic story. He explains in the featurette that he “really wanted to investigate the new way of looking at history.” It’s the story of Peter Pan through Wendy’s eyes.

The video features interviews with the cast and crew as they talk about how this film will expand on the story we know from Peter Pan. Judah Lawwho plays Captain Hook, explains that the film explores the beginning of the feud between Peter and Hook.

Peter Pan and Wendy is the timeless tale of “a young girl who, defying her parents’ wishes to attend boarding school, travels with her two younger brothers to magical Neverland. There she meets a boy who refuses to grow up, a diminutive fairy and an evil pirate captain, and they soon find themselves on a thrilling and dangerous adventure far, far away from their family and the comforts of home.

Lowery has previously spoken about his vision for the film saying he wanted to make “The avenger with flying children. He added: ‘I hesitate to use the word grounded because it contains fairies and flying children. “animation of course, but then treat it like The Revenant. What if we made The Revenant with flying kids?” And they were involved. It’s not 100% like that, but it’s kind of an ethos that we’ve done all of this with… This was kind of an idea, it’s got to be visceral, it’s got to be grounded, it’s still joyful, it’s still full of exuberance and magic, that’s why I don’t like to use the word ‘rooted’”.

Lowery also said, “In doing Peter Pan and Wendy, we set out to make a film that honors both the original text by JM Barrie and the animated adaptation by Walt Disney; we wanted to invigorate our retelling with emotional sincerity, an open heart and a great desire for adventure. Hundreds of incredible artists have spent many years bringing this film to the screen; I am thrilled that the public can see their work, take this journey and rediscover an evergreen story from a new perspective.

The film is the protagonist Always Anderson like Wendy, Alessandro Molonia as Peter Pan, Judah Law such as Captain Hook, e Yara Shahidi he’s playing Tinker Bell in the movie. He is also the protagonist Molly Parker as Mrs Darling, Alan Tudyk as Mr. Darling, Joshua Pickering like John, Jacobi Jupe like Michael, Alyssa Wapanatank such as Tiger Lily, e Jim Gaffigan like Smee.

The film will arrive on Disney+ on April 28, 2023.
