Orlando Bloom is set to star in an adaptation of the series by Maggie O’Farrell’s novel This must be the place, which is staged at Amazon Studios. He will take on the role of an American linguist.

This must be the place “Cross time and continents to reveal the redemptive power of love and how choices from our past have unexpected consequences in our present, as an American linguist and reclusive Anglo-French actress find their marriage threatened by their past lives” .
The story follows Daniel Sullivan, “who leads a complicated life. A New Yorker living in the wilds of Ireland, has children he never sees in California, a father he loathes in Brooklyn, and his wife, Claudette, is a reclusive former movie star dedicated to pulling a gun on anyone who ventures in their driveway. Together they have lived an idyllic life in the countryside, but a secret from Daniel’s past threatens to destroy their meticulously constructed and fiercely guarded home.
Suzanne Heathcote (Killing Eve, Fear The Walking Dead) will write and executive produce the series. There is also a film adaptation of the book in development by the writer-director Chloe Zhao (Eternals).
