It has also been reported that there may be “a feature-length component to the project,” meaning HBO and Warner Bros. will produce a feature film that would set up the potential series. These are all things under discussion at the moment, but it would be great to finally see a game of Thrones the movie is done!

The project would tell the story of “how Aegon and his sister-wives, Visenya and Rhaenys, used their army and their three dragons to conquer six of the seven kingdoms of Westeros except for Dorne. In doing so, Aegon I became the first king of Westeros, the first to sit on the Iron Throne and the founder of the Targaryen dynasty.

All of these events took place about 300 years before the events of game of Thrones. This is actually a pretty exciting concept and I really hope HBO and WB move forward with it!

HBO has tried to develop several of them game of Thrones projects over the years, House of the Dragon has been greenlit and is in production on its second season. The only other real attempt at a Game of Thrones project was an abandoned pilot on The Long Night with Naomi Watts. That project was eventually scrapped in 2019. There was also a Jon Snow sequel in development at one point. Then there are also animated projects in development.

George RR Martin he created such an incredible fantasy world and I love that HBO is still dedicated to telling the stories set in that world.
