During a recent interview with Variety, the star of the film Chris Pino spoke about the film and explained why he loves it so much. One of the things she makes clear is that this movie is the ultimate escape from the crappy world we live in. She said:

“I have probably seen this film more than many of my other films because I like to watch it with an audience. To go out and see the faces of the audience, you see exactly what cinema is supposed to do, which is people are, like, alive. They want to talk about it. I’m in a great mood. The world is so shitty, so why not use this vehicle – big budget cinema – to make people feel better.

Hell yes! And that’s exactly what this film offers! Writers and directors Jonathan Goldstein AND John Francis Daley he’s made something that will really entertain audiences if they go to theaters to watch it. Pine went on to explain how she wanted to give something genuine to the audience:

“There’s a little swordsmanship in this guy in this world, which I love. I’m an 80’s kid. So all my references were from the 80s. So this movie to me was like ‘Goonies’, ‘Neverending Story’, it was kind of ‘Indiana Jones’. Fast forward, and maybe it’s a little ‘Pirates’. All kinds of puree together with the big heart of him. This really more than anything is what I loved the most. I felt like he was really honest, he was sweet. And I think Sweet has gotten a bad reputation. Everything has to be really cool nowadays, and I’m way too cool. I think cool is super boring. I want something that is genuine.

Which, again, I think the creative team actually pulled off. Pine went on to talk about the stunts in the film and how he actually didn’t have to do any of them:

“I don’t do stunts in this movie. Nothing. I have no stock. All I do is run. She runs away from shit. All these poor idiots had to do all this martial arts training on the weekends and I would go for walks on the beach. I was reading, caught up on my Netflix. I enjoyed myself.”

In the film, “A handsome thief and a band of unlikely adventurers embark on an epic heist to recover a lost relic, but things go dangerously wrong when they run afoul of the wrong people. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary RPG to the big screen in an exhilarating, action-packed adventure.

The film is also the protagonist Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, Chloe Coleman, Daisy Head, AND Hugh Grant. It will hit theaters on March 31, 2023!
