The source says Crowe will write and direct a film on the subject Joni Mitchell which he has developed with the iconic singer-songwriter over the past two years. He will also produce alongside his partner Vinyl Films Greg Mariotti.
Sources warn that the project is not a traditional biopic in the conventional sense of the word, nor a documentary. Instead, it is akin to an autobiography in that Crowe has been writing about Mitchell since he was a young reporter for Rolling stoneand she grew to trust him over the years, so she wrote the screenplay with his input.
Crowe and Mitchell have remained close friends over the years, so this is a deeply personal project for Crowe, as is his biographical story. Almost famous.
I love Cameron Crowe’s storytelling and I’m a huge fan of Joni Mitchell so I’m looking forward to this project. Sound like a movie you’d be interested in seeing?
