Image Comics’ KLIK KLIK BOOM will follow a mute killer seeking vengeance

Douglas Wagner (Plastic) and artist Doug Dabbs (Running: burning desire) are collaborating once again and involving the colorist Matthew Wilson and literate Ed Dukeshire for a new revenge comic. The cartoon is called Klik Klik Boom and will be a 5-issue miniseries to be released via Image Comics. We’ll be following a mute killer who uses Polaroids to communicate and that already sounds interesting.

In Klik Klik Boom, readers meet Sprout, a mute assassin who communicates solely through Polaroid images. After being raised by her doomsday grandfather in the rolling hills of Idaho, Sprout grew up with little exposure to other people, TV, or clothing seen outside of Army labors. Now she’s headed to the big lights of New York City to avenge her grandfather’s murder, but will the glamorous glitz and glam of the city help her succeed, or will she be the death of her?

Speaking about the series, Wagner said:

I can’t wait for everyone to see the insanity that Doug, Matt, Ed and I came up with for this book. When all of this was starting to get boring, I told Doug Dabbs that the muses were talking to me about mixing films like Fargo and The Fifth Element with the artistic inspirations of Robert Valley and Bengal. I wanted to try and strike this balance between the old and the new, between neon cyberpunk and crime noir, and wrap it all up in a modern action tour de force tortilla. The team did not let me down.

Dabbs shared:

I knew after working with Doug on The Ride: Burning Desire that there was a creative chemistry that needed to be explored more. With Klik Klik Boom, Doug blew my mind with his scripts and we ended up creating such a different, unexpected and fun story. Working with Matt and Ed was surreal, as they brought their godlike talents to the story. Our main character, Sprout, is someone people have never seen before in any media. I can’t wait for people to meet her and see what we’ve created!

you can read Klik Klik Boom #1 from your local comic stores or anywhere you like to buy comics on June 21st. Will you follow Sprout’s story?
