Jenna Ortega she has no problem being brutally honest about her experience with Netflix Wednesday with the director Tim Burton. He had previously talked about how difficult it was to pull off the project with his insane shooting schedule; how all the directors on the show with different takes on her character confused her and how she was changing scripts without telling the writers.

Now she’s talking about how she never wanted to be on the show in the first place and that she kept turning down offers to star in it. She had just finished with TV and was more interested in making movies. She explained in an interview with The Times UK:
“I received the email, I forwarded it. I had done so much TV in my life. All I’ve ever wanted to do is film… You have to prove yourself. It is only in the last three or four years that I have been able to start dedicating myself to cinema. I was afraid that signing up for another TV show might keep me from doing other jobs that I really wanted and cared about.
He went on to explain that one of the only reasons he decided to do it was because of Burton’s involvement. She explained:
“The only reason I came back is because Tim [Burton, director and executive producer of ‘Wednesday’] he’s such a legend, and we just happened to get along really well. But even then I said, “Ah, no, I think I’m fine,” a couple [more] times.”
She then says she never thought the series would be as big a hit as it has become, saying, “I thought it wasn’t going to be watched. That will be a nice little gem for someone to find, but [most people don’t].”
Damn, was he wrong! The series was a huge success! But she wishes she wasn’t. She went on to agree that it “would be preferable” if the show wasn’t such a huge hit. You’d think he’d be happy with that! I’m sure every other person on the show is happy to see the series become such a huge hit! Maybe she’s just thinking that she feels trapped now and is going to be stuck on this show for many more seasons. He came in to say:
“I used to do a Disney show when I was younger. I was a bit of a public figure, used to being recognized, or whatever. When I look back on it, I think I was so out of place. I didn’t understand where you were, and you start seeing Hollywood for the first time and it’s a little intimidating, a little daunting. I felt like I was a people’s princess. I didn’t really feel like myself. Then it started to slow down and I lived a pretty normal life… Until “Wednesday”, until now I guess.
I have no idea how many seasons we will come out Wednesdaybut can’t wait to see the character’s story continue!
