Axis and allies is a 42 year old wargaming franchise and Renegade Game Studios will bring it back soon. The team recently announced a limited print run of Axis and Allies: World War I 1914. In the game, you’ll fight across the no man’s land of Europe in “carefully considered and determined offensives”. This updated version is the first offering from Axis and allies under Renegade who are already planning future re-releases (join the Officers Club to participate in polls and influence which titles get reported). The Renegade press World War I 1914 will include errata and past updates with additional German (4) and British (2) infantry figures along with 20 extra plastic chips for an enhanced play experience,” but otherwise it will be the same great game players have loved For years”.

The world is at war!
With the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria by a Serbian nationalist in Sarajevo, a fuse is lit and the armies of Europe, and soon the world, will be on the march. This war will be like no other ever fought in human history. With the introduction of machine guns, flying machines, tanks and chemical weapons, casualties will be measured in millions and the advance against the enemy measured in yards. Eight great powers fight for supremacy. The Central Powers of Germany, the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Ottoman Empire are aligned against the grand alliance of France, the British Empire, the Russian Empire, Italy and finally the United States.
Speaking of carrying World War I 1914 Backwards, Dan Boyanowski of Renegade said:
Axis & Allies WWI 1914 was a game we knew we had to bring back. To do it justice we’ve been working with community maven Kevin Chapman (known as “Krieghund” on various forums) to make updates to the rules based on previous errata and clarifications. Designer Larry Harris even suggested adding a few extra copies of units and chips as quality of life improvements for the early game, which we were happy to do!
You can pre-order World War I 1914 from Renegade for $100. It is slated to launch at GenCon and then in August in game and specialty stores worldwide. Are you excited for the rebirth of Axis and allies?
