Universal/Lighting/Nintendos The movie Super Mario Bros is the latest Hollywood title to secure a release date in China. The theatrical version of the legendary video game series will hit Chinese theaters on April 5th, in time for the Ching Ming Festival and in line with some other international markets, and two days before its domestic release on April 7th.
China has recently seen a shift from last year, announcing regular release dates for studio films and with more advance notice. word of Super Mario BrosThe date comes five weeks ahead, which leaves room for marketing and advertising.
The film about the famous video game plumbers, cart drivers and turtle pumps is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (contributors on Teen Titans Go! And Teen Titans Go! To the cinemas) based on a screenplay by Matthew Fogel (The Lego Movie 2, Minions: The Rise of Gru).

The film is being produced for Nintendo by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and Shigeru Miyamoto. Universal and Nintendo are co-financiers and the worldwide release will be handled by Universal.
Earlier this month, Universal Studios Hollywood unveiled the park’s Super Nintendo World with a grand opening event.
Other Hollywood titles with upcoming daily releases in China include Shazam!: Wrath of the Gods And Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.
