The cancellation of Keanu Reeves in China
The invasion of Tibetan territory by the People’s Republic of China is an issue that the Asian government prefers not to be touched by the media, controlling the contents that mention it. And the fact that Keanu Reeves attended the event of the international organization founded by the Dalai Lama, Tibet’s spiritual leader, was confirmation that the actor was an “unwanted figure” in the territory.
Also, this is no small feat, since the Chinese market is the largest in the entertainment industry, and many production houses try to bring their content to the territory, even if it is removing, censoring or editing part of their content so that it can be distributed internally. , with the standards set by the government.
For example, ‘Avatar’ and ‘Titanic’ managed to place among the highest-grossing films in cinema history for their release in China. And on the other hand, ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’ could not further climb the same list, because it failed to get approval for its release in China market.
