Alright, DC fans! Co-CEO of DC Studios James Gunn revealed that they are shaking things up and moving away from the classic good versus evil trope as they move forward with their upcoming films.
Gunn, the mastermind behind upcoming DC Cinematic Universe projects, wants to delve into the rich and diverse world of DC characters, exploring the complexity and nuances of morality. He’s tearing down the black and white and diving deep into the complex shades of gray! He said in an interview on the official DC blog:
“With our stories, we want to keep it away from the good guy versus the bad guy. There are really good, almost saintly people, and Superman is among them. There are really terrible villains like Gorilla Grodd or the Joker. And then there’s everyone in between, so there’s all these shades of gray that allow us to tell complex stories.”
With upcoming projects like The authority AND Waller in the works, which showcase characters known for their morally ambiguous ways, it’s clear that Gunn is on a mission to bring an exciting new perspective to the DC Universe.
Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters is the first phase of the new DCU and features a barrage of movies and TV shows, some of which include Superman: Legacy, The brave and the daring, Supergirl: the woman of tomorrow, Swamp thing and more! I have no doubt that Gunn will take fans on a wild ride.
