10 ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ References To ‘Harry Potter’ That Will Excite Fans

Going into more specific references, as soon as you start wandering around Hogwarts, Hogsmeade or the vast surroundings of the Highlands, it’s easy to realize that everything is full of details that remind us of our best memories. This is the case of a secondary mission that we received in Las Tres Escobas, where a woman, who is afraid to approach the Forbidden Forest because of the many spiders that inhabit it, he asks us to follow a group of butterflies inside, which he believes may lead us to some treasure.

Also, in case the nod was not clear, after completing the mission, which unlocks the secondary tasks of following the butterflies through various points of the map to collectibles, we will receive a trophy whose name replicates this phrase.

Speaking of Ron Weasley, walking around Hogwarts we will realize that some past students have also faced problems similar to his. There’s more to look at than there is NPCs that face a Howler’s scolding, the screaming letter Ron received from his mother after hijacking his father’s car and flying to Hogwarts. In fact, the phrases we hear from howlers are virtually identical to those we saw in ‘Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets’with mothers giving their children quite a fight through this cantankerous letter.

Many of us have fond memories of the first ‘Harry Potter’ games created by EA Games, and the developers of ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ seem to have taken that into account. If we recall, in titles such as “The Philosopher’s Stone” or “The Secret Chamber” in their PC versions, to learn the spells we had to follow the outline of the symbol associated with each spell, a mechanic that has remained almost identical in this new title.

The only difference is that while we again have to follow the shape of each spell with the jostick, now it’s more important to complete it quickly by pressing the buttons indicated on the screen. In addition, there are other mini-games such as the flight one, where we challenge other students to a broomstick race through the rings, which repeats the hippogriff challenge mechanic we had to complete in “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”where we also had to maintain course above the clouds by passing through the rings.

Hermione Granger won’t be in the game, but there were like-minded students in the corners of Hogwarts in the past. If we explore the castle baths in the Astronomy tower area, when we open the door of one of the latrines we will see that secretly brewing potions didn’t just occur to Harry Potter’s clever friend. And it is that we see a concoction on a kettle which, inevitably, refers us to the deeds of the main trio who create the polyjuice potion to sneak into the Slytherin common room.

With the release of the ‘Harry Potter’ movies, there were always complaints from fans about important passages or details from the books that were overlooked. Obviously audiovisual storytelling doesn’t give room to include everything, but that’s not the case with the videogame format. As well as seeing important rooms and items from the films on our Hogwarts tours, such as the Goblet of Fire displayed in the trophy room, there are references to chapters and events from JK Rowling’s lyrics that we’ve never seen on screen.

This is the case of the chapter ‘Death’s birthday’ of ‘The Chamber of Secrets’, where Nick Casidecapitato’s birthday took place. In Hogwarts Legacy, in the dungeons, through one of the doors that require the use of Alohomora, we will be able to access the Hall of the Birthday Party of Death, where the ghosts of the castle gather for their celebrations, which we also find on our walks giving free rein to their well-known phrases and their personality. But that’s not the only thing.

If we wander through the lower areas of the castle, where the Hufflepuff common room is located, we will be able to access the kitchens of Hogwarts, a place where the elves prepare the food that goes up in the large dining room and which we could not see even in audiovisual format. Furthermore, the way to access it is faithful to what JK Rowling wrote: by tickling the painted pear in the box that acts as an entrance.

Without straying from details never seen in the movies or ghosts, there’s a ghostly being that fans will love to see perform their misdeeds across the halls of Hogwarts. Of course I’m talking about Pix, the poltergeist we never see in the film adaptations and that, in addition to playing an essential role in a main mission in the forbidden section of the library, we will constantly see students making life miserable as we explore the castle.

And in fact he remembers the misdeeds that Teddy, Scamander’s Niffler, always did by running away and stealing objects.

During the game, the sounds of the Harry Potter movie soundtracks will accompany our adventure through the wizarding world. But there is a side mission in which the soundtrack of the saga takes on a special role and will make us smile. It is one of the treasure hunts in the southern part of the Poidsear coast, in which we have to guide ourselves through maps, drawings and clues that we find in the scrolls to reach a reward.

In this particular one we arrive at some ruins with bells where to access the treasure we must ring them in a specific order.
