One of the most memorable scenes from Naturally blonde is when Reese Witherspoon’s Elle Woods teaches Jennifer Coolidge’s Paulette Bonafonté the “bend and snap” trick.
Over the years, this moment is still widely cited by fans. With a third film in the works, Witherspoon sheds light on Coolidge’s involvement in the film.
“There is none Naturally blonde 3 without Jennifer Coolidge,” Witherspoon shared entertainment tonight.
Coolidge is enjoying a renaissance in her career with the lead role in Netflix’s Thriller last year The Observer and HBO’s The White Lotusfor which she recently received a Golden Globe trophy and previously won at the Emmys.
Delighted with Coolidge’s success, Witherspoon adds, “I’m blown away by Jennifer Coolidge. She deserves all the flowers she’s getting right now. And she’s just one of those people who’s so naturally gifted and funny, and you can only people say they love her because she’s up there and everybody says, “I love her,” but that’s just what she’s done in our company for a long time, it’s really nice to to see her get this incredible moment.
Coolidge previously stated that he was unaware of a new episode of Naturally blonde.
In October 2022, the star spoke to ET, where she said, “I don’t know, I mean I don’t know if they wanted to surprise me or something because I hear a lot about it. I heard Mindy has this great version of us next round but didn’t see it. I haven’t received a call yet.”
Naturally blonde 3 was announced in 2018 and was originally scheduled for release on Valentine’s Day 2020. Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor will write the sequel.
