Brickwall Pictures’ Sam Kench has released an entertaining video that offers a crash course in film history for cinephiles. The video traces the 145 years of cinema history and chooses an essential film for each year, starting with the groundbreaking 1878 Horse In Motion chronophotograph and ending with the 2022 film Everything everywhere all at once.
I thought it was fascinating, and there’s both cinematic choices that you’ll recognize, and maybe some that you don’t, and some other interesting choices that are important to the history of cinema. The video came with the following note:
