Anyone might think that being a member of a successful band and being part of a worldwide teenage phenomenon is enough to fix your life, but that’s not the case for Hannah Spearritt. British actress and singer, member of youth group S Club 7, revealed that she is going through a bad economic time and recently she and her family have been left homeless.
Spearritt shared her testimony with The Sun, raising awareness of the British property system, which has left her, her husband and their two children temporarily homeless. forced to sleep in an office during the holidays. “Our landlord was in need of money and the property sold very quickly”explains the 41-year-old actress, who reveals that, initially, the landlord told them they had two months to leave their London home and look for a new home, but by selling ahead of schedule, he forced them to leave for two days, leaving them with no time to find a place to live.

In this situation, The couple considered renting a house for a few months, but ended up ruling it out due to the amounts “crazy and exorbitant” which are requested in advance. Luckily, a friend let them stay in his office and they managed to save the day: “We used it as a living room. We could work there while the kids played. There was extra space. The kids’ beds were in the same place, it had their own colors, the swing. They had fun. It was stressful for us , but you’re grumpy. Especially for children. What doesn’t break you… as they say”.
As Spearritt reveals to The Sun, the family has been living in temporary homes for six months, to which is added the aggravating circumstance of an illness that forced her to bed for a while and problems managing the canteen she was setting up with the husband. . Undoubtedly, a situation very far from what most imagine of those who have been part of a musical and television phenomenon such as S Club 7. “People think we should all be millionaires, but sadly that’s not the case. It was what it was and we had fun at the time”says Spearritt of his years in the group.
Spearritt rose to prominence as one of the seven members of S Club 7, a band she was a part of between 1999 and 2003, which has sold 14 million records worldwide, as well as starting a television series of success, produced by the BBC and a film, “I can’t believe my eyes”. At its peak, the band reportedly generated around £50 million a year, but according to The Sun, Spearritt only made £150,000 a year during his tenure.. One of his colleagues, Paul Cattermole, also recently denounced the situation, revealing that he had to sell his Brit prize on eBay. Conversely, the creator of the band, Simon Fuller (who was also manager of the Spice Girls and responsible for reality shows such as ‘American Idol’ or ‘So You Think You Can Dance’), would have assets valued at 445 million pounds.
Career as an actress on hiatus
