The film is the protagonist Rachel McAdams, Katie BatesAnd Benny Safdie next to the newcomer Abby Ryder Fortson, who plays 11-year-old Margaret. The film is set in the 1970s and Margaret is uprooted from her home in New York City, where she is close to her grandmother, Sylvia (Bates), and moves to suburban New Jersey with her parents, played by McAdams. and Safdie.
The film was written and directed by Kelly Fremon Craig (Border of seventeen). Here is the synopsis of the film:
For over fifty years, Judy Blume’s classic and groundbreaking novel Are You There God? It’s me, Margaret. has influenced generations with its timeless coming-of-age story, insightful humor, and heartfelt exploration of life’s bigger questions. In Lionsgate’s big-screen adaptation, 11-year-old Margaret (Fortson) is uprooted from her life in New York City to the suburbs of New Jersey, going through the messy and tumultuous throes of puberty with new friends at a new school . He relies on his mother, Barbara (Rachel McAdams), who is also struggling to adjust to life outside the big city, and his adoring grandmother, Sylvia (Kathy Bates), who is not happy that they have moved and likes to remind them every chance he gets.
Are you there God? It’s me, Margaret is produced by Gracie Films’ James L. Brooks, Blume, Craig, Julie Ansell, Richard Sakai, Amy Lorraine Brooks And Aldric La’auli Porterwith Jonathan McCoy executive production. The film will hit theaters on April 28, 2023.
