Marvel Studios wants Harry Styles to return to the MCU as Eros/Starfox, the brother of Thanos

Though primarily known for his work in the music industry, Harry Styles has also taken part in a number of film projects such as ‘Dunkirk’, ‘Don’t Worry My Darling’ and ‘My Policeman’. Also, albeit very briefly, the singer-actor made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in November 2021.most notably in the post-credits scene of ‘Eternals,’ a film in which he plays heartthrob Eros, brother of Thanos.

Since his introduction in the MCU, there has been no information Marvel or Disney have shared about the future of Styles and his character in the franchise, but in an interview on the Deadline Crew Call podcast, Nate Moore, a regular producer at Marvel Studios, shed some light on the matter and made it clear that they have a stake in it: “We didn’t cast Harry for a cameo. He’s a character (Eros) that I’m very fond of, he had some problematic phases in his exit (in the comics), but there are other stories to tell with this character. He’s charming. He has a very interesting bond with Thanos, they are half brothers and share the same father. He has some interesting powers. He is a complicated character, but very funny. And I think… having met Harry Styles, he’s as charming as you wish he was. I think there’s no limit to how good the character will be once we can bring him back.”.

We don’t know when we’ll see the singer again as Eros, also known as Starfox, but it wouldn’t be strange to do so in a hypothetical sequel to ‘Eternals’. The end of this film showed us that the celestial Arishem has captured many of the Eternals, freeing only Makkari (Lauren Ridloff), Druig (Barry Keoghan) and Thena (Angelina Jolie). These characters were in their ship when, suddenly, Starfox slipped into it along with Pip the Troll (Patton Oswalt). The new group of cosmic characters that has formed could investigate in a second part what happened to the others and how to fix it.

Will Eros be important?

The character of Harry Styles should return with strength and importance in future projects of the franchise. Marvel Studios has signed someone with a loyal and large fandom behind them, which means the possibility of introducing a new audience to the MCU and, therefore, more economic revenue. In addition, they have chosen the actor to play the brother of the most important villain to date in the saga, which opens the door to knowing more details about the mad titan’s past. Taking these two issues into account, Styles’ signing as Starfox is unlikely to remain mere anecdote.
