Ken Burns, Steve McQueen, Helena Bonham Carter Holocaust Docs on BBC

Holocaust documentaries by Ken Burns, Steve McQueen and Helena Bonham Carter will be shown on the BBC later this month to mark Holocaust Remembrance Day. burns The United States and the Holocaust is part of a package of programs to be broadcast on BBC Four and iPlayer during the annual commemoration. The three-parter, a PBS original by Burns, Lynn Novick and Sarah Botstein, examines how the American people and their leaders responded to one of the greatest humanitarian catastrophes of the twentieth century. Meanwhile, Bonham-Carter told Three minutes: overtime of the Storyville beach sees three minutes of footage of a Polish ghetto that expands to tell the hidden stories behind it. The film was co-produced by McQueen, directed by Bianca Stiger and filmed by David Kurtz. The BBC has also commissioned its own Holocaust documentary – How the Holocaust Began – tells the story of the first major act of the greatest crime in history.

Newen Connect Ups Leona Connell as commercial director

Newen Connect, the distribution arm of Newen Studios, has promoted Leona Connell from EVP Distribution to Chief Commercial Officer. Connell, who lives between London and Paris, will focus on the international and French film and television markets and her new role comes on the eve of French television shows at the Unifrance Rendez-Vous. Connell joined Newen Connect in 2020 and currently leads the fiction and non-fiction sales team in France and internationally, assisting with project financing and working on co-production partnerships and pre-sales. In her new role, she will lead a 20-strong sales team, having created the role following the integration of TF1 Studio’s international sales team into Newen Connect last year.

‘Nolly’ Producer Quay Street Productions Hires Mammoth Screen Exec

nothing and Other half Creator Quay Street Productions has appointed Samantha McMillon as Chief Operating Officer. McMillon worked closely with Quay Street founder Nicola Shindler when he was commercial director of Scripted at ITV Studios, Quat Street’s parent company, but more recently he was managing director of another drama indie company in the ITV stable, Mammoth Screen. Quay Street’s upcoming shows also include those written by Russell T. Davies AOlliewith Helena Bonham Carter and Other halfit’s from Dana Fainaru and Hamish Wright, and with Katherine Parkinson and Youssef Kerkour. Both programs are for ITVX.

Kashmir Files Creator Films for Goodachari Sequel

The creators of Indian hits cashmere files, Important and Karthikeya 2 is all set to shoot an Indian espionage thriller G2 (gutchari 2). The Telugu language film, starring Adivi Sesh, was officially launched today at an event in Mumbai after attracting a lot of press interest in the project over the past few weeks. People Media Factory, Abhishek Agarwal Arts and AK Entertainments have teamed up for the film, which will be directed by Vinay Kumar Sirigineedi. The film picks up in three European countries, one in the Middle East and three locations in India, where the first one left off in the Alps. A new cast is announced and the makers say it will be aimed more at a pan-Indian audience than its predecessor, which reached the south of the country. Said Sesh G2 would be “suitable” for viewers across the country.
