The actors of the video game “The Last of Us” who will return to the HBO series

Naughty Dog’s story is about to reach a wider audience and be better known than ever, in its series adaptation for HBO. And while it’s based on the 2013 video game, fans of the original work will be happy to know that there are many of the actors from ‘The Last of Us’ returning to its small-screen version.

Luckily for the fans, the original cast of ‘The Last of Us’ he returned to the series for HBO. In addition, they will share the screen with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, the stars of “Game of Thrones”, and who will bring to life Joel and Ellie, the true protagonists of this apocalyptic world. And while some can already guess who they are, there are surprises as well.

Slutty Baker

The first video game actor ‘The Last of Us’ who returns to the series is Troy Baker, who worked extensively for Naughty Dog and who voiced Joel in the original work. His role has been described as very “important” and he will play James, a high-ranking member of a group of cannibals who appeared in the winter season of the game.

Ashley Johnson

The middle name of ‘The Last of Us’ returning is Ashley Johnson, the other protagonist of the PlayStation game, and who brought Ellie to life in the Sony iteration. In the HBO series, she will be in charge of playing Anna Williams, neither more nor less than Ellie’s mother, and that will be one of the big changes in the adaptation, since this character never appears in the games.

Merle Dandridge

One who repeats her character in the series is the actress Merle Dandrige, who was in charge of lending her voice to Marlene, in “The Last of Us”, and who also appeared in the second part of the Naughty Dog game, as part of a flashback. He now returns with the same purpose of being the leader of the paramilitary group known as Las Luciérnagas, and that he will have a relationship with Anna, Ellie’s mother.

Perhaps there are many nods to the original story of ‘The Last of Us’ and the characters these actors played as Naughty Dog. But until we officially meet them, we’ll have to wait a few weeks, until the Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin series premieres Jan. 15 on HBO Max.
