I watched Home alone every Christmas for years, and I know my fair share of behind-the-scenes details regarding the film. But, until recently, I had no idea that there was actually a post-credits scene written for the movie that never made it into the movie, but it would have been a perfect ending to the movie!
This was underlined by Joe Ramoni, creator of the YouTube channel Hats Off Entertainment. A video was recently released titled “The Lost Version of Home alone.” In searching for her, she shared a screenshot of an alternate draft of the film’s screenplay, written by John Hughes and Chris Columbus.
The post-credits scene would have featured Wet Bandits, Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern), in prison after being arrested at the end of the film. They would watch TV with their fellow inmates watching the infamous film within a film, Angels with Filthy Souls.
As they watch the movie, they look at each other and a light bulb goes on in their heads and realize where they’ve heard it before and it would be a great reward. It’s a great ending! Not sure why the scene didn’t make it into the film, but it’s a shame we never saw it.
How did this post-credits scene of Home Alone not make the final cut?! pic.twitter.com/xcIAWUhT5c
