Amazon Prime Video has released the first full trailer for Enfrentados: Marfil, a Spanish romantic thriller starring Ester Expósito that premieres on September 9.
The feature film is the first part of a two-film adaptation based on the Enfrentados book series by Argentine-Spanish author Mercedes Ron. Amazon unveiled the complete trailer less than a month before its global streaming debut, following an earlier release of static images and a short teaser clip.
In the film, Expósito portrays Marfil Cortés, the daughter of a powerful Spanish businessman. Marfil leads an apparently perfect life in New York until she is kidnapped and mysteriously released without explanation. Following the incident, her father hires a reserved bodyguard named Sebastián Moore, played by Hugo Diego García, to provide round-the-clock protection.

Plot details and character dynamics
The living arrangement triggers immediate tension between the two lead characters. Marfil possesses an indomitable personality that clashes directly with the quiet, guarded demeanor of her new protector. Despite their initial conflicts, the pair gradually develop a mutual attraction that neither is able to resist.
The narrative shifts as the characters travel back to Spain, where safety concerns escalate significantly. According to the production details provided by the studio, both Marfil and Sebastián must navigate a treacherous social landscape where no one appears to be entirely trustworthy.
Cast and production team
The supporting ensemble includes Eric Masip as Iván, Pablo Molinero as Alejandro, and Zoe Bonafonte as Gabriela. Veteran actor Lluís Homar plays Logan, while Joaquín Ferreira appears in the role of Ray.
Óscar Pedraza directed the project. Pedraza previously served as director on television series such as the acclaimed Basque drama Patria and the thriller series Vivir sin permiso. The screenplay was written by Sofía Cuenca, who also penned the scripts for the film adaptations Culpa tuya and Culpa nuestra.
Adaptation history and production background
Enfrentados: Marfil and its upcoming second installment, Enfrentados: Ébano, were filmed back-to-back as a two-part cinematic bilogy. The project is produced by Pokeepsie Films, the Spanish production enterprise established by director Álex de la Iglesia and producer Carolina Bang.
The release marks the third major streaming collaboration between Prime Video and author Mercedes Ron. The platform previously adapted Ron's popular Culpables series as well as her romance novel Dímelo bajito into original streaming titles.
Mercedes Ron is a popular Argentine-Spanish author who gained widespread recognition in young adult fiction before her novels were adapted for television and film. Lead star Ester Expósito is an established Spanish actress known for her roles in high-profile television dramas, while co-star Hugo Diego García is a French-Spanish actor and filmmaker. Pokeepsie Films, based in Madrid, specializes in genre cinema and high-concept television productions for international streaming services.
