Emily Atack Marries Alistair Garner Again in Spain

Emily Atack married scientist Dr Alistair Garner for the second time on Saturday, with a star-studded guestlist gathering at a 16th century church in Mojacar, Spain. The 36-year-old actress had already married Garner in Bedfordshire three weeks earlier.

David Tennant led the celebrity turnout, joined by his Rivals castmates Alex Hassell, Rufus Jones, Bella Maclean and Victoria Smurfit. Jones plays Atack's on-screen husband in the Disney+ series.

Rivals writer Dominic Treadwell-Collins also attended, alongside the show's executive producer Felicity Blunt and her husband, The Devil Wears Prada actor Stanley Tucci.

Absent friends and a dropped gameshow

Notable absences included Aidan Turner and Danny Dyer. The absence of Dyer comes after it emerged that Atack's ITV gameshow with the former EastEnders actor, Nobody's Fool, has been dropped after just one season.

Comedians Keith Lemon and Katherine Ryan were also among the crowd.

Rivals stars turn out in force

Love Island voice-over star Iain Stirling was there with his wife, presenter Laura Whitmore. Atack previously starred as a team captain on Celebrity Juice alongside Whitmore and host Keith Lemon.

Rivals is a Disney+ period comedy-drama in which Atack stars as Sarah Stratton. The series, adapted from Jilly Cooper's novel, follows the rivalries and romances of the fictional English county of Rutshire in the 1980s.

Inbetweeners castmates stay away

Atack's former castmates from the Inbetweeners franchise, the British sitcom that first made her famous, were not among the guests. Last week it was announced that the series would return for a third film, though it remains unclear whether Atack will reprise her role as Emily Hinchcliff.

It was previously reported that Atack was dropped from the franchise's 10th-anniversary special, Fwends Reunited, on the eve of filming. Sources claimed her co-star James Buckley gave bosses an "it's her or me" ultimatum, fearing that his wife, Clair, would find out about their alleged off-screen romance.

A childhood love of Mojacar

Marrying in the Spanish holiday town has long been a dream for Atack, who spent childhood summers there at her father's property. Last year she travelled to Mojacar with her then-fiance and their two-year-old son, Barney, for their first holiday together as a family.

Atack told the Telegraph in a 2020 interview that she loved her family holidays in Mojacar, in Andalucia, growing up. She said her family had owned a property there that her father sold a couple of years ago, but that it remained their favourite place on Earth, adding that they still return every year to stay in a hotel.

Wedding plans years in the making

Atack and Garner welcomed their son, Barney, in June 2024 and got engaged in July 2025. Last year it was reported that the couple were considering marrying in Spain.

A source told the Sun that Atack had been going to Spain with her family on holiday since childhood and loved the idea of getting married there, adding that she and Garner adored the countryside and the guaranteed sun, and liked the idea of friends and family joining them.

Earlier this year, Atack revealed details of her second wedding, describing it as a "fat, f***-off party." She said she thought she had nailed the planning, that the couple were getting married in September, and that she had very much enjoyed the process.

She told Luxury London Magazine she had been choosing napkins and other details, joking, "My God, my life is here!" Atack added that life was good and that it did not get much better than where she was at that moment.
