Ecuador’s National Agency for Health Regulation, Control and Surveillance (Arcsa) has closed a restaurant in Rumiñahui, Pichincha province, after inspectors found serious sanitary violations.
Agency staff visited the establishment following a citizen complaint and carried out an inspection of the kitchen area. Officials found deficient hygiene conditions, rodent droppings and a pest infestation. Photos released by Arcsa showed dirty floors and unhygienic corners throughout the premises.
Arcsa said the business was shut down immediately after the inspection, and added that public complaints help protect everyone’s health.
The closure follows action taken days earlier against three other establishments in the La Marin and Pomasqui areas of Quito. Arcsa reported those venues had accumulated filth and a serious cockroach infestation. The agency said all closed premises will remain shut until the necessary changes are made.
