Investigators tracked Johnson-Wright to another state where he was hiding before apprehending him and taking him into custody, magazine People reported.

The body of Celio was discovered at her residence on September 23. Following an autopsy, medical examiners determined that the perpetrator had forcibly removed the unborn child from the woman's womb.

Police officers subsequently returned to inspect Celio's house a second time. During the secondary examination of the property, investigators discovered what they believe to be the physical remains of the infant.

Police investigation and suspect history

Investigators identified Johnson-Wright as the suspect during the course of the murder inquiry. Authorities noted that Johnson-Wright was already known to police prior to his arrest in connection with the crime.

Law enforcement officials had previously investigated Johnson-Wright for multiple major offenses. His prior criminal record included suspicion of robbery, kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms, and domestic violence.

In the United States, law enforcement agencies coordinate across state boundaries when a criminal suspect leaves the state to evade law enforcement. Interstate fugitive operations allow police departments and federal task forces to locate and apprehend wanted individuals.

Forensic autopsies are comprehensive medical examinations performed by state medical examiners to determine the cause and manner of death in sudden or violent fatalities. Forensic evidence collected during such examinations plays a central role in criminal prosecutions.

Ongoing inquiry and victim details

Celio is survived by her husband and three children following the violent attack. Law enforcement authorities confirmed that the investigation into her death remains active and ongoing.

Support services and victim advocacy networks routinely assist surviving family members in the aftermath of violent homicides, providing guidance as criminal cases move toward judicial proceedings.

The tragedy follows earlier reports of similar violent attacks internationally. In Colombia, criminal suspects reportedly planned to steal a child by cutting the infant from the mother's womb, where investigators believed the baby might still be alive.

Crimes involving the violent extraction of an unborn child, often categorized legally as fetal abduction, are extremely rare within the criminal justice system. Such complex cases require extensive multi-agency cooperation between homicide detectives, forensic pathologists, and crime scene technicians.
