Dakota Johnson and Machine Gun Kelly sparked romance rumors after they were spotted together in New York City on Friday, both arriving at pop star Taylor Swift's Tribeca apartment within half an hour of each other.
The actress, 36, was seen getting out of a vehicle outside Swift's apartment before Machine Gun Kelly, whose real name is Colson Baker, showed up roughly 30 minutes later, according to gossip account Deuxmoi. The rapper and actor, also 36, was escorted inside by Johnson's own security guard, the outlet reported.
Johnson and Machine Gun Kelly reportedly spent several hours inside Swift's apartment before heading to a nearby hotel, where they stayed overnight, Deuxmoi said. The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for both stars for comment but had not received a response.
Swift herself was out of town at the time of the hangout, according to TMZ.
How they met
Johnson and Machine Gun Kelly are said to have first crossed paths at Swift's wedding to National Football League tight end Travis Kelce, held at Madison Square Garden. Swift and Kelce, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, married after a widely publicized engagement.
Johnson is known for starring in the Fifty Shades trilogy and, more recently, the film The Materialists. Machine Gun Kelly built his career as a rapper before moving into acting and rock music.
Split from Role Model
The apparent meet-up comes about a month after Johnson was reported to have split from musician Tucker Pillsbury, who performs as Role Model, after roughly eight months of dating. Johnson, seven years older than the Maine-born singer, and Pillsbury "ended their relationship a while ago," a source told People.
That report followed an earlier insider claim that Johnson and Role Model were "very much on the same page" and that things felt easy between them. The pair were first photographed dining together on December 29 in Los Angeles.
Johnson made a flirty cameo on Role Model's newly released third studio album, Chuck Timely & the Hourglass, which debuted at number 10 on the US Billboard 200 chart. On the track Love I You, Role Model tells Johnson, "Hey, I think you're perfect," to which she replies, "You say that to everyone." He answers, "Okay, well, is it working?" Johnson says, "Yeah. But don't tell anyone."
Role Model on the collaboration
Role Model told Rolling Stone in August that the interlude amounted to him "publicly admitting the relationship," even though he was hesitant about mixing his music with his personal life at first. "I think keeping those things separate is probably good," he said.
He said producer Mason Stoops eventually convinced Johnson to record the part. "And then one day he convinced her, and I was just like, 'Yeah, let's try it.' And it was amazing. Her voice was perfect on it," he told the magazine. "Obviously, yeah, you know that's gonna lead to discussions online, but also it made the song really special to me, and what a cool cameo to have... She did it in one try, too. It was very impressive."
Machine Gun Kelly's past with Megan Fox
Machine Gun Kelly was previously in a relationship with actress Megan Fox for four and a half years. The couple welcomed a daughter, Saga, in March of last year, four months after their relationship reportedly ended amid claims that Fox had discovered he had been communicating with other women.
Despite the breakup, a source said late last year that Fox had been impressed by how he had "stepped up" for her and their daughter, fueling speculation that the former couple could be reconciling.
In July, Fox used Instagram to fire back at a troll who commented on one of her lingerie photoshoot posts, calling it "unbelievably embarrassing for a 40 year old mom." Fox, 40, replied, "which one of my exes is this."
