Cruise Passengers Arrested After Attacking Family on Ship

Two cruise ship passengers face battery and child abuse charges after breaking into a cabin and punching a nine-year-old child in Florida.

Cruise Passengers Arrested After Attacking Family on Ship

Two cruise ship passengers, Gannon Jacox and Brooklyn Hicks, were arrested in the United States after breaking into a neighboring cabin and beating a nine-year-old child. The assault occurred on August 15 following a confrontation over noise levels on board.

Jacox, 29, and his 28-year-old girlfriend Hicks had consumed alcohol before they began talking in raised voices inside their cabin. Their neighbors, a family of three, asked the couple to keep quiet, according to report details published by news outlet The Sun.

Instead of complying with the request, Jacox and Hicks forced their way into the family cabin and launched a physical attack, punching the occupants.

Brevard County Sheriff investigation

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey reported to The Sun that Jacox punched two adults and the nine-year-old child during the struggle inside the cabin. Sheriff Ivey noted that Hicks was flailing her arms beside Jacox throughout the encounter, suggesting that Jacox may have accidentally been struck in the eye by his partner's fist.

Law enforcement officers arrested Jacox and Hicks on the day of the incident. Authorities subsequently charged both individuals with battery and child abuse. The pair have been released on bail as they await trial.

Brevard County lies along Florida's Atlantic coast and encompasses major maritime transit hubs, including Port Canaveral. The county sheriff's office frequently coordinates with federal authorities and cruise lines to investigate crimes committed aboard vessels operating out of local harbors.

Santorini vessel death

The Florida arrest comes after a separate tragedy on board a cruise liner, where a female passenger was found dead inside her cabin. That death occurred while the ship was anchored during a scheduled port call at the Greek island of Santorini.

Santorini is a popular volcanic island in the Aegean Sea, renowned for its cliffside towns and heavy cruise tourist traffic. Emergency medical responses and local authority investigations are typically initiated whenever fatalities occur on cruise vessels docked at Greek islands.
