Prime Video published the first official images from the second season of action thriller series The Terminal List on Monday, August 17, 2026, showing star Chris Pratt returning to his role as James Reece.
All eight episodes of the new season will premiere on October 21, 2026, on the streaming platform, returning more than four years after the show first debuted in July 2022.
First look at new characters and operations
The newly released promotional photographs place Pratt back in the role of former Navy SEAL James Reece, though the character appears in a dramatically altered situation compared to the first season.
In several images, Reece is seen alongside new cast member Gabriel Luna, who plays former Navy SEAL Freddy Strain, as the pair participate in an operation equipped with precision rifles. The photos also show returning cast member Tom Hopper as Raife Hastings, a character whose personal backstory was expanded in the 2025 prequel series The Terminal List: Dark Wolf.
True Believer book adaptation and story changes
The second season adapts True Believer, the second novel in the book series written by former Navy SEAL Jack Carr, though the television script introduces key changes from the original source material.
Carr previously explained that specific story elements required modification for television because certain events he had originally imagined while writing the novel later unfolded in real life with close parallels.
The upcoming storyline finds Reece struggling to establish a new purpose after completing the revenge list that drove his actions throughout the initial season.
International espionage across four continents
The scale of the narrative expands significantly for the second installment, transitioning from a personal conspiracy and revenge story into a global espionage mission. Reece's investigation takes him across the Indian Ocean, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.
During his travels, Reece uncovers a broad conspiracy that extends from Moscow to Langley, Virginia, with deep ties to his own family history.
The Terminal List premiered on Prime Video as an adaptation of Jack Carr's best-selling military thriller series, following a former Navy SEAL officer investigating the ambush of his platoon. The show became a major action hit for Amazon's streaming service, leading to the creation of a broader television franchise that includes prequels and spin-off series.
Full returning cast and new ensemble additions
Along with Pratt, several main cast members return for the second season. Tom Hopper reprises his role as Raife Hastings, Constance Wu returns as investigative journalist Katie Buranek, Dar Salim plays Mohammed Farooq, and Luke Hemsworth returns as Jules Landry.
Gabriel Luna joins the cast as Freddy Strain, a former Navy SEAL who develops a direct working relationship with Reece during the new operation. The expanded ensemble also features Costa Ronin, Olga Kurylenko, Yul Vazquez, Martin Sensmeier, Arnold Vosloo, and Shiraz Tzarfati.
Physical transformation and filming health struggles
The initial images confirm a marked physical transformation for Reece, who displays a more worn appearance and a more extreme characterization than in the first season. Pratt had previously shared previews of his transformation during production, displaying a long beard and significantly longer hair crafted by the hair and makeup team.
Pratt later recounted that filming certain action sequences proved challenging due to severe health issues. While shooting scenes on boats, Pratt said he was suffering from an E. coli infection and an illness resulting from a tick bite he had contracted while filming in Africa.
Connection to Dark Wolf prequel and production details
The second season follows Prime Video's 2025 prequel series The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, which centered on Taylor Kitsch's character Ben Edwards and was set years before Reece's primary storyline. That prequel series introduced and developed several key figures, including Raife Hastings, Mohammed Farooq, and Jules Landry, who are now transitioning into the main timeline of season two.
In addition to starring, Pratt serves as an executive producer alongside director Antoine Fuqua, showrunner David DiGilio, and author Jack Carr. The season is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, MRC, and Civic Center Media.
With the publication of these first images, Prime Video has formally launched its promotional campaign for the second season. The new episodes pivot away from the first season's core revenge narrative toward international espionage, keeping Reece at the center of the story before all eight episodes drop on October 21.
