Vernon Kay doesn’t want his children to live with his and his wife Tess Daly’s fame, insisting they build “their own careers”.
The 48-year-old TV presenter told MailOnline that she is currently seeking acting schools for her eldest daughter, 17-year-old Phoebe, where she can combine her passions for acting and business.
And unlike some show business couples, Vernon and Strictly host Tess, 53, taking credit for shaping the couple’s parental beliefs, believe it’s important for their children to “find themselves” and not “put their lives on one plate.”
‘We’ll let them be independent’: Vernon Kay doesn’t want his children to live off his and his wife Tess Daly’s fame, insists they build their ‘career’
Vernon says, “When it comes to them and their future, we let them be independent because it’s important that you let them find themselves, which is character building and personality development.
‘Sometimes I think there’s life on the old silver spoon and the plate in front of it… I think it’s quite contradictory to how you want them.
“Tess and I grew up in warm and healthy northern families, and that’s a huge quality that helps us in our personal growth, and I think it’s very important.”
I don’t agree with those who do this by helping their children, which is great, but I personally think that’s what they love for us sometimes, they can start exploring on their own.”

“Tess and I grew up in northern families”: Unlike some show business couples, Vernon says he and Strictly host Tess are concerned that their offspring “find themselves” and not “put their lives on a plate” of their own.

Growing up: The TV host told MailOnline that she is currently seeking acting schools where she can combine her passions for acting and business to send her eldest daughter, Phoebe (pictured).
Vernon and Tess, who also share their 13-year-old daughter, Amber, have been married for 19 years and live together in their London family home, originally from Bolton, Lancs.
While acknowledging that the couple is growing rapidly, the former Family Fortunes host said she embraces “every minute” their kids are at home.
He explained: “It’s weird that Phoebe left the house early because they both look like they’ve been in diapers for two minutes.
“It’s so cliche and you don’t take it into account at the moment, but our parents said we should enjoy every moment and take lots of pictures because they’re at university tomorrow and they’re going out.”
“You say, ‘Yeah, he’s 18,’ and with the click of a finger, he’s there for you and you go through his college questions, the different courses he can take and the options he can take, and wow, it gets there. too fast.
In fact, she says her daughters are now so grown up that they’re definitely not seen together anymore, just adjusting to see what Tess is wearing.

‘We’re Dressed Well’: Vernon revealed that the whole family dressed up and looked tight, but now their teenage daughters only care about what mom Tess is wearing.

“I Think”: Vernon, who hosted This Morning with Rochelle Humes this summer, says he’ll be interested if the role continues full-time, but admits that’s unlikely given the talent roster already associated with him.
“Now as the girls get older, my issue is more about sitting in front of the TV watching Tess and the girls walking away and doing what a 13-year-old and almost 18-year-old does.
“I’m glued in, immobile on the couch, and I watch every episode and check on my phone when I’m away from home and the girls like to see what mommy’s wearing, we got dressed and we looked at each other, but now I seem to look great and they’re gone, gone.
The girls had the chance to see Vernon on television directing the ITV show This Morning this summer while Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were on vacation.
It was a hit with audiences alongside host Rochelle Humes, and while Vernon suggests she’d be interested if the role continued full-time, she admits that’s unlikely given the roster of talent already featured on the show, including Alison. and Dermot O’Leary for him.
“If this call comes in, I would definitely consider it, but Phil and Holly, This Morning and Alison are synonymous with Dermot, so let’s have a look.”

Finishing the I Am a Celebrity 2020 series in second place, Vernon can’t regain his normal appearance, but Get Me Out of Here! He’s very happy with the progress his career has made so far.
In fact, he admits that if the old T4 server never worked again, he would show his resume.
He said: “I’ve been lucky enough to do 14 Family Fortunes series, I’ve hosted Top of the Pops twice, I’ve done T4, Radio 1 stuff, I’ve done three online series in America, countless game shows and panel shows, there’s always something new. I’m open to suggestions for anything, but god forbid my career ends tomorrow I’ll say wow, this is a pretty comprehensive resume right now.
‘I entered television at the age of 25, modeled at the age of 22. Now I’m happy and I’m not hunting anymore.’
