The Visual Effects Society appoints members to the 2022 Hall of Fame

The Visual Effects Society today announced new members of the VES Hall of Fame, including innovative animator, producer and director Mary Ellen Boothe; the first woman to direct a film, Alice Guy-Blachet; American computer scientist Grace Hopper; Commercial computer animation visionary Bill Kovacs and Hungarian-American animator, director and producer George Pal. Hall of Fame nominees and other special honors will be celebrated at a special event this fall.

“Our VES award-winners represent a distinguished group of artists, innovators and professionals who have made a significant impact in the field of visual effects,” said VES chairman of the board Lisa Cook in a statement. “We are proud to recognize those who have helped shape our shared heritage and continue to inspire the next generation of visual effects professionals.”

As previously announced, educator and industry leader Pam Hogarth has been named winner of the 2022 VES Founders Awards. The company has nominated Jeff Barnes, Patricia “Rose” Duinan, Pam Hogarth, Tony Pace Carstensen and David Tanaka with the subscription. for life to VES and Pete from Pixar VES Honorary Membership Doctor.
