Prior to the presentation of the next part of Oscars for another six months, but the first applicants for prices are already showing up – and in one of the technically complex nominations: “Best Sound”.

The Academy traditionally gives the loud films – literally. And, based on the reaction of experts, the Film Academy already has three obvious candidates in 2025: the Formula 1 Motorsport -Drama, the horror skewer “28 years later” and the military blockbuster “Under Fire”.

“Formula 1” (Dir. Joseph Kosinsky)

The film with Brad Pitt in the lead role, shot against the background of real Formula 1 races, immediately came into the favorites – not least thanks to the participation of the sound engineer Gary Ritzzo, the laureate of the two “Oscars” (for “beginning” and “Start” and “Dunkirk”). His work on the sound is already compared to “Top Gan: Maverik”, who also shot Kosinsky and who once won the same nomination. Motorsport is generally a winning subject: “Ford Against Ferrari” also once took a sound, and the chances of “formulas” look pretty real.

“28 years later” (Dir. Danny Boyle, co -author Alex Garland)

The return to the world that is “28 days later” is not only accompanied by visual stiffness, but also by an excellent sound design. Johnny Burn is responsible for him, who recently received an Oscar for a much quieter and minimalist film “Zone of Interests”. Immediately – the opposite: the heart -ownership of infected, fearful atmosphere and musical accompaniment of young fathers work for wear. Experts already call the sound part of the film one of the most innovative this year.

“Under the Fire” (Warfish) (Dir. Alex Garland)

The second Harland project for the year and another potential winner in technical nominations. Military films have historically confident in this category – it is enough to remember “1917”, “to remember conscience reasons” or “Lord of the Storm”. In the “Under Fire”, Hovard Bargroff and Ben Barker worked on the sound – not the loud names for Oscar, but veterans of the television atmosphere that previously received Emmy. At the level of the study of combat scenes and sound, the film is already compared to the “Fall of the Black Hawk” and “Letters from Ivodzima.”

Who else can be there

The list of potential nominees is not limited here. The game remains:

  • “Mission is impossible: consequences” – The previous part of the franchise has already been nominated for the sound and the last film by Christopher McCurry can repeat the success.
  • “World of the Jurassic period: Renaissance” – Not the most popular film of critics, but the work of sound cases about the founding of the world of dinosaurs, oceans and Junglemey is impressive, and the studio clearly expects the attention of a film academy in technical categories.

Before the end of the year there is still a lot of time, and some favorites will probably appear closer to the fall. But these three films are already in the pool – and if nothing breaks, at least one of them will reach the stage with a golden statue.
