Nobody knows, but the “strong note” has the 6th part: Denzel Washington played in it

In 1991 the crime thriller “Rikoshet” with Denzel Washington was released in the title role on the scenes.

The film passed almost unnoticed at the cash register, quickly disappeared from the field of vision of the public and critics and yet it is one of the strangest and underestimated pages in the history of Hollywood militants. Not in the least because “ricochet” is part of the “strong utility” universe. Yes, nobody has officially conveyed this, but the connection between the two paintings is quite real and confirmed.

The most important role was played by Denzel Washington, who at that time had to get a foothold in the actionsre. The script was written by Stephen de SUZ – the same that came with a “strong note”. Malkei, who had previously filmed Clips for Duran Duran and Elton John, was in the director’s chair. Well, the last nail in the theory of the “Common Universe” is scored by the character of the TV presenter Gail Walland-She appears in the “Rikoshta” and in a “strong note”, working for the same news agency and the relief of events in Los Angeles.

In the center of the plot is a young agent Nick Styles (Washington), who becomes a local celebrity after catching a psychopath called Earl Blake (John Litgou). The criminal is planted, the hero is building a career, becomes a public prosecutor, the father of the family, everything is fine. And then – a sudden blow: years later, Blake escapes from prison and starts to methodically destroy the life of styles. The film contains all-and-and-the-hand tribunes, and the drugs, and the video commercial, and the plot with the “Fall of the Hero”, and turns closer to the final into a boisterous action film with shootings and the last dismantling in the spirit of John McClain.

Additional details that should be known:

  • Communication with “strong note”: Character Gail Walland (performed by Mary Ellen Trainor) appears in both paintings. Both films take place in Los Angeles. And both were written by Stephen de Suza.
  • “Ricochet” as failed “Dirty Harry”: Initially, the script was written as a continuation of the franchise with Clint Eastwood, but he found him “too gloomy”.
  • Comparison with the “Cape of Fear”: In the same 1991, Martin Skorsze released the “Cape of Fear” – with an almost identical plot, but with a large budget and star composition. Against this background, “ricochet” was lost and easily disappeared.

Despite all this, the film has 75% on rotten tomatoes, and he deserves exactly a second chance. Especially when you consider that this is almost the only time that Denzel Washington tried to play in an action of this type – before you continue with more solid roles in Philadelphia and Malcolma X.
