Emmerdale fans were blown away by Joe Tate star Ned Porteous’s furry transformation as he posed for a selfie in San Francisco alongside partner Sophia.
Emmerdale star Ned Porteous looks completely different from his days as Joe Tate on the ITV soap opera.
The star has now grown a thick wiry beard and puffy hair from her smooth hairdo and looked completely unrecognizable as she posed for a selfie across the pond.
Ned visited San Francisco with his partner Sophia and the couple posing on the iconic Golden Gate Bridge overlooking postcard blue water.
Ned donned a black denim jacket and gray t-shirt for the occasion, with a much-needed pair of sunglasses around his neck as he clutched the phone to take the photo.
His wiry brown beard and mustache were on display as he smiled at the camera, as Sophia pursed her lips beside him and wore her dark hair over her shoulders.
Ned simply titled the shot: “SanFran”.
But Emmerdale fans are much more used to seeing his icy brown hair and just a hint of artistic stiff beard on Ned’s chin, and have turned to the comments section to praise his new look.
One fan wrote: “I love Ned’s beard! High-five me shaggy! “
As another said, “Guys have beards!”
“You are so Beautiful!” someone else praised, while a fourth fan said, “Cutie pies!”
Even Ned’s former co-star Michael Parr, who played Ross Barton in Soapland, couldn’t help but tease his former co-star when he said, “Your beard is fake.”
“You’re jealous?” another fan soon applauds.
Ned is slowly documenting his beard growth on Instagram and last month posted a shirtless shot that showed chest hair with the beard trimmed closer to his skin.
Ned leaned his head over one hand as he stared at the camera, wearing only a pair of sunglasses on his head, a chain with a pendant around his neck and a sun snap watch.
With Ned’s recent flurry of California shots, including Yosemite National Park and Napa Valley, diehard Emmerdale fans fear Joe may never return to their screens again.
A concerned fan said: ‘There is no hope that you will come and cheer for Emmerdale anytime! It’s not the same without you and Andrew Scarborough!
Someone else begged, “When do you have to go back to Emmerdale Ned or is it still a secret?”
