Zoe Ball apologizes to BBC Radio 2 listeners after Gogglebox’s Lee Riley swore THREE times during a live performance on her show

Zoe Ball has been forced to apologize to BBC Radio 2 listeners as Gogglebox star Lee Riley swore no fewer than three times live on air.

The 52-year-old presenter apologized to the audience after the 52-year-old reality star wreaked havoc with a flurry of comments on Wednesday.

Joined by his girlfriend and co-star Jenny Newby, 65, the couple were talking about Gogglebox’s 10th anniversary when it all went awry.

They were shown a clip of the Channel 4 show and asked to guess which episode it was from.

After watching it, Lee said, “Oh yeah, that was that green shit,” but soon realized his mistake and continued, “Oh shit, I said shit, sorry.”

Zoe soon tried to defuse the situation by telling listeners: “Sorry about the language,” before joking that even Liam Gallagher got through her show without swearing.

She joked, “Lee it’s okay we’re just saying sorry sorry for the language Jenny stop laughing. If it’s anyone let it be Gogglebox’s Lee.”

Zoe was emotional on Friday when she said goodbye to her Radio 2 host Ken Bruce on his last day at the station.

The media personality updated breakfast show listeners of their sadness at the Scottish presenter leaving early – after BBC bosses refused to allow him to work until the end of his planned contract.

Ken was due to leave his beloved morning slot later this month to join rival station Greatest Hits Radio, but BBC bosses asked him to quit on Friday – 17 days early – instead.

As a tribute to her boyfriend, Zoe called him a “class act” when she included him at his last show after mentioning him several times during her own show.

When a caller asked how she was doing on the breakfast show, Zoe replied: “I’m very good, a bit emotional because today is Ken’s last day and we love him so much!”

Zoe said the departure had hit the whole Radio 2 team and continued: “Actually we’re making a fuss and he’s raising hate.”

Ken’s final performance followed Zoe’s, with the latter managing to adjust to her car ride home.

She filmed her car’s smart screen while Ken signed off during the show and superimposed “Class Act” over the video with a love heart emoji.

Many fans took to the comments section of Zoe’s post to share their own sadness at Ken’s passing, with one writing: “Absolutely loved his show, listened to him every day for 30 years good times and bad . I’m now switching to Greatest Hits Radio on 3rd April 2023 from 10am to 1pm, no more radio. 2 for me’

While another repeated: “Absolute legend. Radio 2 is no longer worth listening to. (Except for you of course, Zoe)”.

It seems she wasn’t the only member of the studio who would miss Ken, as his booth was filled with congratulatory cards during the final show.

After four decades at the BBC and three with his morning slot on BBC 2, the Scottish presenter will be replaced by Vernon Kay.

Admitting it was “unfortunate” that he was unable to complete his full deal with the station, Ken explained during an appearance on Radio 4’s Today show that the station had decided to let him go early.

Ken said: “It’s perfectly within the BBC’s rights to ask me to leave a bit early. But with 17 days left (on my contract) it seems a shame.

“I haven’t had much free time in the last 46 years, I tried to show up when I had to show up. So my natural feeling as a broadcaster is that if I have 17 days, I want to do it.”

Radio 2 presenter Jeremy Vine, who will host the slot immediately afterwards, paid tribute to the station on air.

He said: “May I say I have worked with amazing people and you are the best. I know you don’t like praise, you are the most generous, intelligent and talented colleague.

The veteran broadcaster still spoke highly of the BBC in his closing remarks on the latest show, saying: “And I’ve been here for the BBC for a long time and, apart from the occasional quirk, it’s still the best channel in the world .world..

“I thought about the song I have to finish and a song that ends could be The End.”

His final song choice was a medley of Golden Slumbers, Carry That Weight and The End, which closes the Beatles’ Abbey Road album.

Bruce has left the BBC’s Wogan House in London for the last time and said that despite the untimely departure, he still looks back fondly on his time at Radio 2.

Reflecting on whether the early departure made the departure bittersweet, he said: “No, it’s okay, I’m happy now.” It’s all behind me. It’s no problem.’

When asked what advice he would give to his successor, Vernon Kay, Bruce added: “Vernon doesn’t need my advice. He’s a great guy and I wish him all the best.”
