The chef explained how she started a TikTok page to share potato-related content after losing her job.
Poppy shared how she quickly amassed 4 million followers on the app, which amazed her when she started her account “from a quim”.
Presenter Matt Tebbutt, 49, realized she had made a mistake and corrected it, insisting she started her TikTok page “on a whim”.

A stunned Poppy continued to question Matt about what a “quim” was, with the host clumsily sidestepping the issue.
The word “quim” is defined by the Collins dictionary as a British vulgar noun for female genitalia.

Poppy lost her job early in lockdown and she previously revealed how “playing on TikTok” reignited her love of cooking and led to an influencer career with millions of followers and even a book deal.
Michelin trained Poppy from London started working in the kitchen when she was 18. When the country went into lockdown in 2020, she was fired from her 70-hour-a-week job in a luxury kitchen.
Unable to pay rent, she retreated to her childhood home for a two-week lockdown, where her younger siblings introduced her to TikTok.

She is now a huge TikTok star, with dozens of big names and brands backing her.
The chef has contracts with major companies such as American Express – and has gone far beyond making videos of potatoes, including teaching millions of basic cooking techniques, including the perfect way to cut an onion and how to poach an egg , both of which generate millions through calls.
“Like many chefs over the past year, my career came to a screeching halt when lockdown hit and restaurants across the country closed,” she told MailOnline.
“I was fired before leave was a word and my employers didn’t even stay here to try and arrest me.
“I really had to think about how to pay the rent.
“I returned home for about two weeks of lockdown, felt sorry for myself for about two days, and then spent hours scrolling through TikTok and thinking… I can!
“The growth was slow at first, but even a comment or two a day paid off.
“It wasn’t until I started my potato series in November that I went from 100,000 followers to over a million overnight!”
