This Morning presenters Cat Deeley, 49, and Ben Shephard, 51, hosted Wednesday's broadcast hungover after winning the Best Daytime award at the National Television Awards.
The co-hosts crawled into the ITV studios following a late night of celebrations and groaned in delight as guest chef Jamie Oliver cooked them bacon sandwiches with chilli to help cure their hangovers.

Deeley and Shephard proudly held up their heavy trophy as the morning show opened. Deeley giggled as she pointed out that Shephard had nearly misplaced the silverware earlier that morning.
"It's really heavy isn't it? You almost lost it, this morning didn't you?" Deeley said to her co-host on air.
Shephard admitted that the trophy had suffered a minor mishap on the way to the studio. "We got it here, might have a little graze on it, but that's another story for another day," Shephard said.

Deeley expressed her excitement over the big win with viewers. "We won best daytime show, at last night's television awards, it was just fab, wasn't it?" she said.
Breakfast in the Studio Kitchen
The presenters made their way to the studio kitchen where chef Jamie Oliver had prepared a cooked breakfast tailored specifically for recovery.

"Smoky bacon and egg sandwiches, brown sauce and chilli. I've sorted you right out. I know what you need when you've had a long one," Oliver said. He added that there was "nothing better than a bacon sandwich for when you've had a few too many glasses of strange white wine."

Shephard asked Oliver to explain the science behind using spicy ingredients after a night of drinking. Oliver explained that chilli contains capsaicin, describing it as nature's natural form of morphine. He noted that the compound is antiseptic, antibacterial, thins the blood, and helps mop up everything consumed the previous night.

Shephard noted that the high spirits extended to the production crew behind the camera. "The director was out very late last night. It was a very late night. Fortunately Jamie is over there in the kitchen," Shephard said, adding with a glint in his eye that they were working very hard celebrating on behalf of all their fans.
Deeley shared a story about arriving home to her young son, Milo, after leaving the afterparty early. She explained that she normally has one of her young sons in bed with her, referring to them affectionately as the creepers.
"And Milo comes in with me last night at 2 o'clock in the morning and he goes... 'mum, did you win?!' I said 'Yes, now close your eyes and go back to sleep,'" Deeley recalled.
Award Victory and Red Carpet Style

The victory for Best Daytime show was shared across the full ITV team, including Friday presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary. This Morning is ITV's flagship daytime programme, broadcast live every weekday morning from Television Centre in London.
At the ceremony, Deeley wore a red and purple floral dress paired with a statement gold necklace as she put on an animated display on the red carpet alongside Shephard.
Former ITV star Holly Willoughby, 45, arrived late on the red carpet, avoiding Deeley, Shephard, and the rest of the This Morning team who had arrived much earlier. Willoughby, who recently launched her own YouTube chat show, wore a strapless gown featuring silver diamante detail.
History of Post-NTA Hangovers

The decision to host This Morning while hungover follows a well-established tradition for the programme's presenters after the annual ceremony.

The tradition originated in 2016 when former co-presenters Holly Willoughby, 45, and Phillip Schofield, 64, famously presented the live show in their stained outfits from the night before, creating a viral television moment.

Over the past decade, Willoughby and Schofield repeatedly entertained viewers by appearing on air in an embattled state after the awards, notably during broadcasts in 2012 and 2017.
