Spanish television personality Carmen Borrego has been admitted to hospital in Malaga after suffering a severe fall and breaking a bone in her wrist.

Her close friend Belen Rodriguez broke the news live on Telecinco during the afternoon programme El verano se mueve, presented by Ion Aramendi. Rodriguez said she was receiving live WhatsApp updates directly from Borrego as she sat in a doctor's consulting room.
Aramendi announced the exclusive at the start of the broadcast, reporting that Rodriguez had just received information about a major accident in which Borrego had taken a heavy fall and broken something.
Accident while packing luggage in Malaga
Borrego had been staying in Malaga, a coastal resort city in southern Spain, for nearly a week. Her son, Jose Maria Almoguera, had spent the week with her and was preparing to travel back to Madrid.
The accident occurred while Borrego was helping her son pack his bags. She tripped, and to prevent herself from hitting her head on the ground, she put her hand out to break the fall.
The impact fractured a bone in her wrist. Images broadcast on air showed the presenter sitting in a hospital room with her left arm in a cast while listening attentively to instructions from her attending doctor.
Five weeks of recovery in summer cast
The injury leaves Borrego facing a recovery of five weeks during the peak of summer. She will be forced to give up planned summer activities and cannot go swimming to cool off during an ongoing heatwave.
Rodriguez told viewers she had spoken with Borrego before the medical results confirmed the fracture, describing her friend as being in pain and suffering from terrible luck.
Aramendi joked on air that Borrego would no longer be able to cook, though he noted that she cooks with her right hand. Rodriguez insisted the injury should not be downplayed, noting that Borrego cannot cut her food and will require someone to feed her.
Family tension among the Campos dynasty
Borrego is the younger daughter of the veteran Spanish broadcaster Maria Teresa Campos. Her hospitalisation comes amid a period of ongoing media drama surrounding her family, reflecting the popular Spanish saying that nobody suffers more than a Campos.
Borrego recently admitted that her relationship with her sister, fellow television personality Terelu Campos, had cooled down. The sisters face severe tension caused by a feud between their children.
Almoguera and his cousin Alejandra Rubio, Terelu Campos's daughter, do not get along and completely ignore each other. Defending their respective children caused the two sisters to end up at odds, though observers noted that a health setback often alters plans and brings family members closer together.
