Carín León Cancels Las Vegas Sphere Show, Angers Fans

Grammy-winning Mexican singer Carín León canceled a scheduled concert at the Sphere in Las Vegas just hours before he was due on stage, sparking outrage among fans who had already arrived at the venue.

León was set to resume his residency at the Sphere on Thursday but never made it into the city, citing what he called an aircraft malfunction. He broke the news in a statement on Instagram that was translated into English by Billboard.

"Due to an unexpected mishap during my move, and always putting everyone's safety first, we unfortunately have to reschedule tonight's show at Sphere," he wrote. "I know all the effort, excitement, and desire that many brought to be here tonight, and I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

"Thank you for your patience, for understanding and for all the affection you always make me reach. See you the soonest my people," he continued.

Fans react with anger

The apology did little to calm his audience. Many fans posted angry videos to social media, cussing León out and giving him the finger.

León's Instagram comments section filled up with complaints. "The Backstreet Boys played 50 shows at the Sphere and didn't cancel one! There are levels to artists!" one fan wrote. Another asked, "Are you going to reimburse us hotels and everything or how does it work?"

Some fans argued León should have flown into Las Vegas at least a day before the show instead of trying to arrive just hours ahead of it. Argentine YouTuber Javier Ceriani shared a video from the venue showing fans chanting an expletive in unison as they filed out.

What caused the cancellation

León later posted a video giving a fuller explanation. He said he and his band had attempted to board two separate planes on Thursday afternoon, and both had problems: one had a brake failure and the other a steering issue.

"We had to prioritize the safety of the people and the pilots, so we weren't allowed to fly. The authorities wouldn't let us," he said.

"I sincerely apologize from the bottom of my heart and want to reaffirm our love for you. This isn't a lack of commitment on our part. Things simply didn't go as we had hoped, and I stand here feeling deeply embarrassed."

The Sphere also issued its own statement. "Due to an unexpected transportation issue, tonight's CARÍN show at Sphere is postponed," it read.

León, who specializes in regional Mexican music, has won two Grammy awards and charted multiple songs on the Billboard Hot 100

Refunds and rescheduled date

According to the Sphere's statement, tickets for the canceled show remain valid for September 15, 2027, the date to which the concert has been rescheduled. Refunds are also available at the original point of purchase through October 10, 2026, for fans who cannot attend the new date.

León is still scheduled to perform on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to finish out his residency at the venue.

Who is Carín León

León specializes in regional Mexican music and is currently one of the genre's biggest crossover stars. He has placed three songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and won Best Música Mexicana Album at the Grammy Awards in both 2025 and 2026.

In March, he teamed up with country singer Jelly Roll on "Lighter," an official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
