Brooklyn Beckham showed his support for wife Nicola Peltz on Friday night, joining her as her plus one at the Golden Globes x Aman Beverly Hills cocktail party in Venice, hours after she made her Venice International Film Festival debut.

Nicola, 31, is set to receive the Rising Star award on Saturday. The couple posed together for photos at the party, putting on a loved-up display.

Rising Star honour at the Kineo Awards

The 84th Golden Globe Awards ceremony will not take place until Sunday, January 10 next year. Nicola's Rising Star prize, however, comes from The Kineo Awards, which are not officially part of the Venice International Film Festival despite running alongside it.

The award citation notes that Nicola, daughter of billionaire Nelson Peltz, actually began acting as a child 20 years ago. Her credits include The Last Airbender, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Bates Motel, Holidate, Welcome to Chippendales and The Beauty. She also wrote, directed and starred in the self-funded film Lola.

The Kineo Awards, marking their 25th anniversary this year, describe Nicola as an actress, screenwriter and producer who "has attracted growing international attention through increasingly multifaceted roles, both in front of and behind the camera."

She is being honoured alongside Faye Dunaway, who will receive a lifetime achievement award and who co-stars with Nicola in her new self-funded film Prima.

An hour-late entrance behind Faye Dunaway

The ceremony is held at Venice's Casa Cinema Giovani. It was conceived by Kinéo Cultural Association president Rosetta Sannelli and launched in 2002, running during the Venice Film Festival without any direct ties to the larger event.

Introduced simply as "Nicola Beckham," the actress smiled and giggled with delight as she made her entrance an hour late, walking in behind Dunaway.

Inside her film Prima

Nicola has been working on the indie drama Prima since January, though the film does not yet have a release date. The cast also includes Dunaway, Jack Huston, Mira Sorvino and Betty Gabriel. It marks the feature directing debut of the Morelli Brothers, Luca and Alessandro Morelli.

In the film, Nicola plays Margo, a dedicated prima ballerina facing life-altering decisions as modern changes disrupt her ballet company. She and her family attended a private screening in Los Angeles in May, hosted by East West Bank chief executive Dominic Ng. Afterwards, Nicola thanked supporters, saying their backing of independent film meant "more than I can express."

Weight loss and Brooklyn's defence

The film has drawn attention after Nicola sparked concern with dramatic weight loss while preparing for the role. She undertook four months of intense ballerina training that saw her drop to under 100 pounds (45kg), following a strict diet as part of her effort to embody the character.

Just last week, Brooklyn defended his wife after a follower commented on his Instagram cookery tutorial, asking: "Do you comment on everyone who is concerned about your wife and how sickly she looks? She puts herself out there, feed her."

Brooklyn replied: "Don't ever talk about my wife. She's absolutely beautiful and you should never comment on a woman's body. It's disgraceful."

Brooklyn, a hot sauce entrepreneur, has been married to Nicola since 2022. The couple renewed their vows last year amid an ongoing feud with his family.
