Body of Missing Voronezh Tourist Found in North Ossetia Mountains

The body of a 43-year-old tourist from Voronezh was found in the mountains of North Ossetia five days after he went missing, Russia’s federal emergency service reported, citing its regional North Ossetia branch.

Specialists from the North Ossetian search and rescue team recovered the man near a cliff known as Barany Lby, at the approach to the Midagrabin glacier plateau.

According to the regional emergency management department, the man was part of an unregistered tourist group descending a route between the Midagrabin glacier and the Midagrabin waterfalls on July 27. He moved ahead of the group and was not found when the others reached the waterfalls. The group then called Russia’s emergency service for help. More than 20 rescuers took part in the search.

In a separate incident, a tourist from Rostov Oblast went swimming during a storm in Sochi on July 28 and did not return to shore. That incident occurred near a beach known as the 72nd Kilometer.
