Tricks (and products) to detangle your hair without pulling (and without breaking it) this summer

We like it more or less The pain that comes from brushing tangled hair doesn’t end with childhood. Do you remember? When did you burst into tears at Mom’s attempts to untangle your locks? Chances are it still happens to you and when you wake up from bed, after a shower or after a swim in the sea, your hair tangles and makes brushing difficult.

Whether it’s because your hair is curly or simply because it tends to get more tangled, tangled hair is no easy task. In addition, in the summer, the seawater, sand, sun exposure or chlorine in swimming pools all come together to damage and tangle our hair even more… How can I not make combing drama? How do you untangle it without pulling (and without breaking it?

The key is to use special products that soften (deeply moisturise) the hair, prevent frizz and allow it to be combed smoothly. And we’ve found two you’ll want to try! The first is the Astrid spray from MAÛBE Beauty, a no-rinse detangling product that allows to comb short and long hair without pulling, and also leaves a pleasant scent. Applied to clean, damp hair, it is soft and easy to comb, protecting against water loss by creating a waterproof film.

Another of our favorites is NATURIA spray from Rene Furterer, a spray that, with 100% active ingredients of natural origin in its formula (and without silicones), instantly detangles all hair types, making it much softer, shinier and easier to comb. We love!

Tricks to untangle hair in the summer

In addition to using detangling hairspray, you can also put into practice some simple tips to avoid tangles in your hair and brush it without pulling or drama.

  • Comb before washing: Many specialists recommend brushing your hair before, for example, washing it in the shower or submerging it in a swimming pool. Combing hair before washing is essential for grooming because when wet it is much weaker and more brittle. If you remove all the knots beforehand, you can also wash it much easier.
  • Use a suitable comb: If you have thick hair (and even more so if it’s curly), always use a comb with separate teeth. It will separate the strands better and avoid hurting yourself when combing. For its part, you can use a flat brush for straight and dry hair, racket brushes for afro hair or a boar brush, very practical when you want to pick up the hair.
  • From the bottom to the top: Forget the traditional way of styling your hair. Don’t do it root to tip: if you have knots, start undoing the dots, hold them well and very carefully, and go up little by little to the root. This way you will prevent your hair from breaking and unnecessary strands from falling out with so many pulls. You will thank us later!
