Two tips for buying ready-made products in the supermarket

I am independent, away from my family, since I was 18 years old; studying, working and cooking, sometimes it gets complicated. I am the first to resort to ready-made products when I don’t have time to cook or when I leave the gym hungry and want something to eat. Although I consume them in moderation and select the products carefully, I have been buying processed products for years and am in good health.

In addition to all the information on a product’s label (brand, tips, how to use it, etc.), I recommend that you always pay attention to the ingredients yet the nutritional information of the products before you buy them to know whether it is good or harmful for your health and to give your body what it needs according to your goal: lose weight, gain weight or maintain it. In another article, I’ll teach you how to interpret them correctly.

Next, I’ll give you two simple and handy tips to select your products in the supermarket:

1. Always in moderation

In moderation, buy those products that contain things like: “0% fat”, “low sugar”, “no added sugars”. This could mean “we added a lot of evil chemicals to make this product more palatable and drinkable”; often the natural option is better, although for example I have been consuming 0% fat blend cheese for years and it suits me.

2. Beware of some products

Stay away from products with a long list of ingredients and especially if they are ingredients you don’t know like the famous E, E-hundred and so, E- two hundred and so… Although it is better that you are aware of these products and replace it in time with other natural products if you take them.

For example, I have been taking sports supplements that contain the well-known E for years… I have the feeling that they are good for me and I have not had any negative effects when taking them.

Are preparations containing ingredients such as thickener (xanthan gum), emulsifier (soy lecithin) or stabilizer (gellan gum) harmful?

In my opinion, and from my experience, I would say that: they are not harmful as long as they are consumed in moderationbecause I’ve been doing it for years and I’m in good health. Find out the nutritional information (per 100 g of product) of an organic vegetable preparation I consume from Soria Natural and I recommend that you:
