The most famous BB cream in France changes its formula, and for the better

In the last fifteen years, following the craze of Asian beauty rituals, especially Japanese and South Korean, many cosmetic products have appeared in Europe inspired by the best-selling references in the Far East. The most popular on French soil is undoubtedly the BB cream, a hybrid treatment that hydrates, protects and cares for skin while concealing imperfections. Launched in 2009 by the brand Erborian, the first French BB cream was a huge success and paved the way for many brands such as Garnier, Clinique, La Roche-Posay, Clarins and L’Oréal Paris. Fourteen years later, it reinvents itself with a new formulabut don’t panic for fans of the first hour: the “baby skin” effect is still there.

Since January 2023, Erborian has been offering a new version of its iconic BB Cream, available in five shades to suit a large number of skin tones. Goodbye cyclomethicone (a silicone suspected of being an endocrine disruptor), ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate (a UV filter suspected of participating in coral bleaching and coral reef destruction, but also of being an endocrine disruptor) and phenoxyethanol (a preservative accused, also of having an effect on hormones)! As a precaution (these ingredients are authorized in certain doses in cosmetics by the European Commission), they have been replaced by alternatives above all suspicion.

As for skin care, there’s glycerin to maintain the skin’s hydration level, white ginseng combined with plant extracts to give it a smoother appearance, and SPF 20 to protect it from the harmful effects of the sun.
