Mercadona’s new exfoliating ampoules examined by a dermatologist

One of the things we like about social networks like Instagram or TikTok is that we can have the opinions of doctors and other experts in one place. Click. These platforms have encouraged dermatologists and other types of specialists from different fields to make videos and other types of content where they explain – in a way that is understandable to everyone – many topics related to their work. And we’re talking about dermatologists in particular, because it’s one of the areas we cover the most in this magazine: how to care for the skin of our complexion.

In this sense, it is one of the most active dermatologists on social networks and the one from whom we prefer to learn Dr Leire Barrutia. This young doctor, dermatology resident, She is a specialist in dermo-cosmetics, which is why she uploads a large number of videos to her Instagram account (@dermisphere) and his YouTube channel -with the same name- in which he talks about different products from skin care. Whether it’s deciphering the formulation, recommending what type of skin it is indicated for and/or sharing his experience trying sunscreens, moisturisers, serums, toners or eye contours, among others, he gives always his prior or subsequent dermatological opinion. . In one of his latest videos he talks about a new Mercadona product and his opinion surprised us (for the better).

This is the roll that Dr. Leire Barrutia recently uploaded to her Instagram profile to which she contributes his preliminary dermatological opinion on the new Mercadona hydroxy acid ampoules. Complementing the family of ampoules previously available at Deliplus – such as the vitamin C ampoules – those that promise to boost skin cell turnover have already gone viral – like every new product from skin care or makeup they remove, even to ultrasound professionals like this dermatologist. These ampoules promise younger-looking skin thanks to their innovative treatment that gently exfoliates, their antioxidant action that helps reduce wrinkles and expression lines, and the luminosity and hydration they provide.

And in this preliminary report on the new Mercadona ampoules, this cosmetic dermatologist confirms how complete they are. “They contain interesting active principles such as alpha hydroxy acids”the great protagonists of this product: glycolic acid, lactic acid and mandelic acid, “which give rise to a to peel surface, removes dead cells, unclogs pores and provides brightness,” he continues. But he also talks about niacinamide (the most searched cosmetic active ingredient on Google in 2022 because of its anti-inflammatory or sebum-regulating ability, among other things), hyaluronic acid (provides hydration) or probiotics (against acne, rosacea or skin aging), other assets present in the ampoules and in more detail in this video.

“A combination of very interesting active ingredients for the price it has”, says the at the end of his video. And it is that this very complete Mercadona product with ten bottles that you can see in the image above costs only 4 euros. Although he assures that it has disadvantages compared to other more expensive products because it has lower concentrations of each of the assets. But to make her opinion more truthful, the professional says she’s going to try them to see how they act on her skin, as well as compare them to other types of similar ampoules she’s already tried.

What skin type is it recommended for? It is suitable for all skin types except if you have sensitive, reactive or damaged skin. Moreover, both she and other TikTok users who also talk about these blisters recommend using them at night, after cleaning. And, in response to some followers in their comments, warns to use this and other products containing hydroxy acids gradually, and don’t mix them with retinol at the same time if your skin isn’t used to it. We will take the view of Dr. Leire Barrutia about this and other products keep reporting!
