Apostolia Zoi spoke about the loss of her mother to cancer during an interview on Nancy Paradeisanou's YouTube show. Zoi described the medical diagnosis and sudden shock her family experienced shortly before a major professional commitment.
Zoi said she learned one week before her premiere that her mother would not survive and that her condition had deteriorated severely. Although initial test results came back completely clear, doctors informed her a week later that her mother was fading by the hour. Zoi said the news hit her as an overwhelming shock.
Family Support and Loss
When Zoi initially stated she did not want to perform, her mother told Zoi's sister that Zoi should go to work and keep going. Venue management told the family there was no problem, and Zoi noted that they ended up doing the very things they used to mock. She added that her mother was not ready to hear what she had, and passed away as soon as she realized her condition.
Describing the initial period of grief, Zoi said it felt like living a different life. She recalled walking through the streets asking herself if the people around her were happy and wondering if those wearing black clothes were in mourning or making a style choice.
