Amanda Bynes, 40, was spotted wearing a see-through gray miniskirt - that clearly outlined her bright green underwear underneath - during a solo stroll in Los Angeles on Friday

The former "What A Girl Wants" star paired the revealing skirt with a loose white button-down blouse, navy crew socks and pink sneakers. She wore her usual heavily inked black eyebrows and a neutral-toned lip shade, with green-tinged nails to match her underwear.

Bynes' boyfriend, businessman Zachary Khan, 40, was nowhere in sight. She appeared to be in her own world, walking her toned legs down the sidewalk while talking on her cell phone as she headed to her neighborhood Starbucks.

The outing came shortly after Bynes recently splashed out on a $160,000 Range Rover, and in the wake of her emotional reaction to the death of fellow child star Hayden Panettiere last month.

Hayden Panettiere's death

Panettiere, 36, was found dead of a suspected overdose on August 16 at an Airbnb in Greenville, South Carolina, where she had traveled with her on-off boyfriend Brian Hickerson, a South Carolina native.

The outing comes in the wake of Bynes' emotional reaction to the death of fellow child star Hayden Panettiere, who was found dead of a suspected overdose on August 16 at an Airbnb in Greenville, South Carolina that she had rented with boyfriend Brian Hickerson

Hickerson was on the scene along with his brother Zachary when she was pronounced dead, according to a heavily redacted police report. Her autopsy found no signs of trauma that would have contributed to her death.

The relationship had been volatile almost from the start in 2018, with Hickerson arrested multiple times for domestic violence against Panettiere. The actress herself had struggled with alcohol and opioid addiction and postpartum depression, leading to rehab stays in 2015, 2016 and again in 2020.

Panettiere's sudden death shocked fans, family and friends across the entertainment industry, Bynes included.

Bynes' tribute to Panettiere

Bynes shared a short tribute to Panettiere on LinkedIn on August 17, writing: "Life can hit you hard, and fast. What a horrible situation."

She accompanied the post with screenshots from a past interview in which Panettiere had discussed the pressures and unrealistic expectations of growing up in the Hollywood spotlight.

When a commenter told her to "please be kind," Bynes replied: "I was simply stating... glass houses."

A second loss for Bynes

Panettiere's death was not the only loss to hit Bynes recently. Her former "All That" co-star Christy Knowings died on August 11, aged 46.

Knowings' cause of death was revealed as cardiac arrest with acute hypoxic respiratory failure and status asthmaticus as contributing conditions, with asthma listed as the underlying cause, according to a death certificate obtained by People. A family member told TMZ that Knowings had been hospitalized four days earlier following an asthma attack before being taken off life support.

Bynes' own journey

Bynes left the entertainment industry more than a decade ago to deal with publicly documented mental health and substance abuse issues. Her parents were granted a conservatorship over her in 2013.

She went on to enroll at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, earning an associate's degree in 2019. Bynes filed a petition to end her conservatorship in February 2022, and a judge formally approved the request and terminated the nine-year arrangement a month later.

These days, Bynes continues to focus on her health, hobbies and sobriety. She has lost more than 30 pounds using Ozempic and has been in a relationship with Khan since September 2025.

Music and OnlyFans return

In April, Bynes made a musical comeback with the release of "Girlfriend," her first new song in years, on streaming platforms. She told E! News that her inspiration was "a lot of EDM, as well as rap."

Bynes collaborated on the track with rapper Fenix Flexin and signed with Create Music Group, a label that has worked with artists including Jason Derulo and Deadmau5.

A year ago, Bynes also joined OnlyFans as a way to connect with her fans. She told her Instagram followers at the time: "Disclaimer: I'm doing onlyfans to chat with my fans through dm's. I won't be posting any sleazy content. Excited to join."
